The Challenge:
52 Weeks + the Alphabet = Great Experience and Learning!
Each week (by Friday) we will all post a photo pertaining to the letter that week - week 1= a, week 2 = b.. week 27 = a again and so on.
Be original & creative. Find subjects that start with the letter or find that letter in nature.
Finally, each week critique the photos according to composition, exposure, etc.
We will learn from our experiences, and the critique.
Good Luck!

"C" is for Carnation!
I'm not too thrilled with the way this photo turned out.. let me know what you guys think!
Sweetness .. what type of lighting did you use for it?? The center of the flower is just a bit dark which kind of hides the shape and depth of the flower .. otherwise I do really like it for composition and colour!!
The color is great - so rich! I agree with Blaine on the dark center though. I am curious if you have one with it positioned in the top right 3rd intersection?
I actually really love the amount of bokeh, and I think the flower does really stand out against the background. I love the warm colours and I don't mind the dark center. I also like the composition, and I like where the flower is placed, with the other stems and that one bud soft behind it. The only thing I would like to see is a little of the stem of the front flower; I get the sense that it is floating, disconnected from the rest, but if there were a stem coming down from it I think it would all tie together nicely. beautiful!
Thanks guys, It was almost dark in the room when I was taking these. I tried to take lots without flash but none of them were turning out so I had to use fill flash to get the crispness I wanted... It is slightly dark.. I could try to lighten it up in photoshop.
very purdy. the only thing I might have tried is making the main flower stand out more or fading the background a bit to make it pop.
